Sewer Camera Inspection
Locating before the drill, inspecting after.
About this serviceDallas-Fort Worth
Chemical termite treatment on a slab house means drilling a line of holes through the concrete around the perimeter and injecting underneath. Those holes go through the same few inches of slab that the plumbing passes through, and occasionally they find it.

The treatment requires a continuous barrier, which means holes at regular spacing regardless of what is underneath at each point. A drill going through four inches of concrete and into the fill below has no way of knowing whether a water line crosses there.
Supply lines are the usual casualty because they sit shallower than drains. A hit on a pressurised line announces itself quickly, sometimes as water coming up through the hole that caused it, which at least makes the diagnosis simple.
A drain is worse precisely because it does not announce itself. A drill catching the top of a lateral leaves a small hole in a pipe that is not under pressure, and what follows is months of water escaping under the slab with no symptom at all until a floor lifts or a bill changes.
The other version is chemical rather than mechanical: injection under pressure near a pipe that is already cracked, putting treatment where nobody intended it to go. That is a reason to deal with a known drain defect before treatment rather than afterwards.
Before: have the lines located and marked. A camera with a sonde traces the lateral, and a locate finds the supply, and both take under an hour. Any reputable pest contractor will work around marks on the ground, and most would far rather have them than not.
Tell them where the water heater, the softener loop and any slab penetrations are as well, since those are the places lines run vertically and are easiest to catch.
After: watch the water bill and watch the floor. A hit on a drain shows up over weeks as a musty smell, a warm or damp patch, flooring that starts to lift, or usage that has quietly risen. If any of that appears in the months following a treatment, mention the treatment when you call, because it changes where we look first.
Keep the paperwork. The treatment date, the contractor and any diagram they produced are exactly what is needed if a claim follows, and they are also what establishes the timeline.
Where a contractor has drilled into a line, it is generally their liability and their insurer's, and most reputable firms deal with it without much argument when the evidence is clear. What makes it clear is a camera recording showing a clean drilled hole at a specific distance, which looks nothing like age-related failure.
That is why the diagnosis matters more than the repair here. A cracked cast iron joint and a drill strike are different things and any competent inspection can tell them apart, and the recording is what turns a dispute into a claim.
We locate and mark before treatments, camera afterwards where there is reason to, produce written findings with recordings for claims, and do the repair either way.
Newark, Boyd, Rhome and Decatur are all a short run for us.
FAQ
Yes. Slab injection drills at fixed spacing through the same few inches of concrete the plumbing passes through, and neither the drill nor the operator can see what is underneath each hole.
Have the water lines and the sewer lateral located and marked. It takes under an hour, and any reputable pest contractor would rather work around marks than guess.
Slowly, which is the problem. A hole in an unpressurised pipe leaks under the slab with no symptom until a musty smell, a damp patch or lifting flooring appears weeks or months later.
Then a pressurised line has been hit, which is at least unambiguous. Shut the water off at the meter and call, and tell the pest contractor immediately rather than after the repair.
Usually the contractor or their insurer where the evidence is clear, and a camera recording of a clean drilled hole at a measured distance is what makes it clear. It looks nothing like an age-related failure.
Mention the treatment when you call. It changes where we look first, and the timeline matters if it turns out to be a strike rather than a coincidence.
